Manos Entrelazadas South Side Alliance (MESA) aims to challenge the narrative that pits long-time residents against new arrivals by working to build a city that cares for everyone, regardless of race, zip code, or immigration status.

Our Free Store, La Tiendita

Hours: Mondays from 4 pm to 6 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm

Housed in the Coppin Community Center at 5627 S Michigan Ave, La Tiendita provides our community with free clothing, diapers, toiletries, furniture, toys, and more. People can also drop off donations during our store hours.

In addition, on Mondays from 4 to 6 pm, you can visit the Coppin Community Center’s food pantry for fresh produce, meat, dairy, canned goods, and more.

    Neighbors United for Mutual Support’s volunteer-run legal clinic provides free legal assistance for immigrants and refugees in Chicago, helping them navigate the immigration system, apply for work permits and asylum, and connect to legal resources around the city.

  • Know Your Rights Resources & FAQs

    A group of Illinois immigrant rights groups have created a new website with centralized information for immigrants and their loved ones across the state. At the link below, you can find know your rights resources, updates on federal immigration policy, information on free and low-cost legal services, as well as several other resources on housing, discrimination, public benefits, and how to get an ID.
